PATTERNS: MineralismPosted: July 29, 2013
There has been a recurring pattern that has caught my eye over the past few months. I first saw it at Cité de l’architecture in Paris. There was an exhibition on the work of Rudy Ricciotti.
I tried to sketch it a little that day
Then I noticed something like it in this medieval wall in Senlis, France. It is part of the ruins of a royal castle built by Louis VI sometime in the middle of the twelfth century.
Here it is again on the floor of the Badlands, in South Dakota. I believe this substrate is compressed volcanic ash from the Oligocene Epoch (according to the National Park Service).
