Farmstand Sound InstallationPosted: October 9, 2012
My new friends Shawna and Attila invited me out to their farm, Mountain View Farms, in Neersville, VA, to take some sound. Their goal was to mix up the status quo at market in DC.
I slept in a tent on their land, and the next day took sound starting before sunrise. In all, there was 15 hours of raw sound. I tried to keep a mix of animals, human voices, insects, and machinery.
The result was a 4 hour composition that they can play at market.
Some people pretended not to notice the other world in their midst. A couple folks shared memories that the sound had conjured up. One child tried to find where we were hiding the rooster.
