“There’s a place in France”

[found sound from Morocco, Paris, Washington, DC; samples; original music]

Using a Zoom H2, I collected sound during my travels in Morocco and Paris.  When I got back to DC and started composing, I took sound from the streets here and also grabbed some from YouTube (a saint speaking about the desert in French).

I tried to evoke specific locations.  The photos below are some of the images I used to anchor the piece.  The final 2 images are from the production.

I mixed the project in Logic Pro 9.

Samples:

“Desert” (english/french versions) by Emilie Simon

“Je M’voyais Déjà” by Charles Aznavour

“Imidiwan Afrik Tendam” and “Intitlayaghen” by Tinwaren
