“Tamar and the River”

I began rehearsals for the workshop of Tamar and the River at Signature Theatre today.  The reading is part of the 21/24 Project, where the theatre hosts actors in intensive training and rehearsals to put a brand new script on its feet for the first time.  Marisa Michelson wrote the score and many of the words.  Book by Josh Cohen.

Learning a method called Free Singing, which is a technique of producing vocal sound with minimal muscular involvement.  No jaw, no abdomen, no shoulders, no face, no chest.  Only lungs and diaphragm.

Ensemble-building exercises following intros to many faces who are new to me.
